Muchmore UK GP Series, Carlisle, 22/23 August 2015

by admin | post a comment

The final second round of the 2015 GP series, was hosted by the Carlisle Radio Model Car Club in the North West of England on 22/23 August.

The event runs 4 qualifying rounds on the Saturday with a further 2 on Sunday morning, followed by 3 finals and features 5 classes; Modified, Pro-Stock, SPEC, Mini and F1.

In Modified, Xray driver Peter Eagles repeated his success at last month’s round in Stonehaven and took the win in Modified from John Simpson (Schumacher) in 2nd and Adam Howe (Durango) in 3rd.

Pro-Stock class runs a 13.5T brushless motor, with open ESC choice and each of the 3 leg finals finished in grid order with pole man Peter Craig taking the win with his Schumacher ahead of Chris Mitchell (HB) and Ian Willacy (Schumacher).

The SPEC class running 17.5T blinky would be the first of a double win across two classes for Mini ace driving legend, Paul Davidson.  David Fraser took 2nd followed by Tom Capri in 3rd.

The GP support classes of Mini and F1 continue to grow in popularity, particularly with junior drivers but are also fiercely competed in by the ‘fast guys’.  In Mini class, local driver, Ian Willacy got close but there was no catching the guy with the T-shirt, Paul Davidson who drove with perfection all weekend to take first place with Ian in 2nd and Chris Mitchell in 3rd.

Returning after some practice in Slovakia at the ETS meeting, Andrew Walters took the win in F1 from Peter Eagles and Chris Briggs.

Muchmore UK would like to thank Tom Capri, Amy Avis, Chris Mitchell, Jocelyn Mitchell, Joe Herring, Ian Willacy, Chris Briggs and the rest of the team who helped at the Carlisle club for organising a fantastic event.
